About This Tour

A group safari in Rwanda is the ideal way to experience gorilla trekking and Rwanda's national parks at the best possible value — sharing costs without compromising the quality of the wildlife experience itself. Rwanda SafariTours runs small group tours with scheduled departures throughout the year, catering to solo travellers, couples and small groups who want to join an existing departure.

Our small group Rwanda safaris have a maximum of 8–16 participants depending on the itinerary. On gorilla trekking days, Rwanda Development Board rules mean each gorilla family is visited by a maximum of 8 people — so our groups naturally align with this limit. Every group has a dedicated RDB-certified lead guide throughout the tour, supported by specialist guides at each park.

Group tours cover the same highlights as private tours: gorilla trekking in Volcanoes NP, Big Five game drives in Akagera NP and cultural experiences in Kigali. The shared vehicle approach (typically 4×4 Safari Land Cruiser) significantly reduces per-person transfer costs, making group tours 20–30% more affordable than equivalent private packages.

Groups of 10 or more (corporate retreats, travel clubs, school/university groups, incentive tours) receive custom group pricing and fully tailored itineraries. Contact us for group quotes on gorilla trekking, team-building safaris and corporate incentive programmes in Rwanda.

Absolutely — solo travellers make up a significant proportion of our group tours. You'll meet like-minded wildlife enthusiasts from around the world. Solo supplement (single room) is available if you'd rather not share a room, or we can pair compatible solo travellers for room-sharing to reduce costs.
RDB regulations allow a maximum of 8 visitors per gorilla family per day. For groups larger than 8, we split into two sub-groups visiting different gorilla families — often an equally good outcome as participants get variety. All group members meet before the trek and share the experience over dinner.
